Please Note: Scheduled, real-time sessions in the online classroom are not the only form of instruction available in a PHC Prep Academy course, but are offered in addition to lectures or other instructional materials that students are able to access online at their convenience. All sessions will also be recorded for later viewing. Registered students will be notified of any changes to the live session schedule.
Overview
This course is designed to introduce students to the basic principles of microeconomics and how to approach economic issues from a biblical worldview. By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of:
- Basic economic concepts,
- The nature and function of product markets,
- The nature and function of factor markets, and
- Market failure and the role of government in the economy.
The course will employ readings, lectures, video segments, graphing tutorials, and PowerPoint presentations to enhance understanding of these topics. Students will be expected to make use of the aforementioned resources to successfully complete the homework assignments (including assignments from the Econ Central website), participate in discussion forums, and prepare for quizzes and exams.
Am I Ready for this AP Course?
This is a rigorous, college-level course. PHC Prep recommends that students have a strong background in mathematics, preferably having completed Algebra II, in order to succeed in AP Microeconomics. Please visit the College Board’s AP Microeconomics page for more information about the material and skills students will study in the course and will need to master for the AP exam in this subject.
